Additional Information / Boat Review:
Engine Manufacturer, Model, and Horsepower Rating:
Cat C-9 510hp fully electronic motor. no maual injectors here!
What do you like and dislike about the engine(s)?
Fuel economy and the dash pod that tells you everthing the motor is doing is great.Easy to work on / service. Dislikes aaaaahhhhhh none
What type trailer do you have and what do you like and dislike about it?
LO-BOY 45,000lb capacity. Hard to pull with the wifes Honda odessy.
Is this boat trailerable and if so what type vehicle, at minimum, would you recommend to adequately pull this rig?
No!, but it was pulled to the launching with an F250 single rear wheel truck
How much fuel does the boat hold and what is its approximate range?
1
Describe the ride and handling in moderate chop and in rough water:
the boat doesn't pound at ALL. it does wobble due to it's width (16.5') but pushes any wave right out of the way. Rides the same in 6' seas as it does in 2'.
If applicable, what type of fishing would you say this rig is best suited for and why?
Bottom fishing due to the wide stable fishing platform. Trolling for dolphin, wahoo & kings due to a 6.5 knt in gear idle speed. No transom makes for easy fish loading aboard.
Describe the layout of the boat including storage, live wells, lockers and so on:
Bow to stern: 4 over/under bunks in the bow, in the cabin is another 3'x8' bench/bunk, Starboard side has a complete galley. the back deck is 23.5'X 12.5" of open space no motor box. Back wall is home to two coolers one with a tackle station built in with the other housing my on board dive compressor and Nitrox blending equipment. The boat has raw water washdown on the deck.
How has the rig held up over time?
Been out in 8-10' seas in it already and she hasn't broke yet! This is a working boat not a glitz & glamour vessel. very durable but not frilly.
What are some things that you find exceptional about this boat?
The deck and the handling. The vessel is very sure footed both running and while docking. The deck space is secound to none.
What are some things you do not like about this boat?
I think the boat lacks topside storage but that is how I ordered it so I could build the interior & deck to suit my needs, so storage is currently being built by me!
Do you know of another manufacturer that makes this same boat under a different name?
Not even one close to this style.
Would you buy this boat again or recommend it to a friend?
if they wanted a big boat to dive from and fish off you bet. Constrution is high quality and the boat is user friendly.
What would you say this boat is worth in its current condition?
If you really must know - $ 300,000
What other boat would you have bought for roughly the same money if you had it to do over again and why?
Nothing in this price range worth buying other then the Newton. A few northern boats like Provincial or webers cove come close.
Add any other details or comments you think people should know about this boat if they are considering buying one like it:
